The band Iskra was formed in Athens in 1984 by Yiorgos Fakanas, David Lynch and Takis Farazis. With the addition of Takis Barberis and Leonidas Pliatsikas they recorded the album "A New Day", which was released in 1986.

They performed in Greece and abroad and they spread the word of improvised music in Greece. With Nikos Touliatos on the drums, they released another album, entitled "Parastasis", in 1988.

Each member of the band continued with a remarkable personal career.
