Serafeim Bellos
Serafeim Bellos was born in Mesologgi in 1969. He started playing the drums at 16 with various local rock groups. At the age of 18 he was playing the the Hellenic Navy Orchestra.
Since 1991 he turned his interest towards jazz. He studied at the percussion workshop of Leonidas Pliatsikas and Nikos Touliatos. From 1993 to 1994 he studied at ΙACP in Paris with French and US teachers and worked with various bands. He has also studied in NYC with distinguished musicians such as Joe Chambers, Billy Hart, Jimmy Cobb, Ralph Peterson Jr., Eric Harland, Gregory Hutchinson and E. J. Stricklandand has attended lessons with Elvin Jones and John Hicks.
Returning to Greece he formed the latin jazz band Cubana Bop and joined Tierra Brava, one of the first salsa bands in Greece. He has toured all over Greece and Cyprus performing with well-known composers and singers and has among others he has collaborated with Yiorgos Psihoyios, George Kontrafouris and Takis Paterelis.
He also works with his band Sera Bellos PP 69. Since 2005 he teaches drums.
