Chris Stassinopoulos
The drummer and keyboardist Chris Stassinopoulos was born in Athens in 1951. Since the mid '60s he became an active member of the local scene, performing with bands such as the Playboys and the Loukas Orchestra. In 1973 as a member of the Mikis Theodorakis orchestra, he toured in France and England and he decided to settle in Paris. There he met the members of the band Axis, with whom they were childhood friends, he became the band's drummer and they recorded the album "Axis", which was released in 1973.
In Paris he studied drums at the Dante Agostini school (1973-1975) and in 1995 he studied at the Berklee College of Μusic in Boston with a special scholarship through the Filippos Nakas Conservatory.
He met and collaborated with many remarkable musicians of the international scene. Among them there were Christian Vander (Magma), Francis Moze (Magma), Didier Lockwood (Magma), Francois Janneau (John Mclaughlin), Joël Dugrenot (Zao), Manuel Villaroel, Catherine Lara, Joe Berger, Clint Bahr, Vangelis Papathanasiou, David Cross (King Crimson), Hugh Hopper (Soft Machine), Alex Foster, David Jackson (Van Der Graaf Generator) and Barry Finnerty (Miles Davis).
