Spyros Manesis
Pianist Spyros Manesis was born in Athens in 1978. His studies include degrees on classical and jazz piano at Athenaeum Conservatory with teachers George Kontrafouris, Sylvios Syrros and Marianna Aivazova and a master's degree on jazz piano from the Conservatorium Van Amsterdam with teachers Karel Boehlee, Hans Vroomans, Kriss Goessens, Rob van Bavel and Harmen Fraanje.
His first album with the project Trioism was released in 2008 and his debut as a leader "Undelivered" in 2011. He has recorded his own arrangements for solo piano on Lena Platonos’ songs, that was his subject on his master research and presented it with huge success at Michael Cacoyannis Foundation in 2012.
He has been a member of Chronos Project with Dimitra Galani, Christos Rafailides, Thomas Konstantinou and Petros Klampanis. He leads the Spiral Trio along with bassist Arionas Gyftakis and drummer Anastasis Gouliaris.
He has worked next to very important names of the Greek and the international scene, such as Dean Bowman, Olivier Gatto, Gilad Hekselman, JD Walter, Bodek Janke, Jaques Morelenbaum, Savina Yannatou, Dimos Dimitriadis and he has made live performances in many countries.
He has also collaborated with Orquestra do Norte, Greek Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Municipal Symphony Orchestras of Athens and Thessaloniki.
He regularly teaches jazz piano at Athenaeum and Musical Praxis Conservatories.
