Terry Vakirtzoglou

Terry Vakirtzoglou was born in Athens. Her first experiences with singing began as a member of children choirs until she started taking music lessons at the age of 12. In 2004 she was accepted at the Music Department of the Ionian University in Corfu. She graduated in 2010 and won both the Fulbright Scholarship and the Onassis Foundation Scholarship for continuing her studies in New York City, at Queens College / Aaron Copland School of Music.

In 2012 she was a semifinalist for the International Jazz Competition "Voicingers" that took place in Zori, Poland. In 2013 she earned her MA degree in Jazz Vocal Performance and continued to work in New York City where she performed in different venues including "Cornelia St. Cafe", "Le Poisson Rouge", "Swing 46", "Silvana" and many more.

After her return from NYC, Terry has been performing with exceptional jazz musicians at some of the most well-known venues in and outside Athens. Among others she has collaborated with Daan Kleijn, the Athens Big Band, Dimitris Kalantzis, Vasilis Rakopoulos, Mimis Plessas and Nikolas Anadolis.

Her debut album "Qualia" was released in 2018. She teaches modern vocals and improvisation at Filippos Nakas Conservatory.
