Dimitris Sevdalis
Dimitris Sevdalis was born in Athens in 1976. He started to play music at the age of seven. He studied classical piano and then jazz piano at Philipos Nakas conservatory. In 1996 he received a scholarship to study at Berklee College of Music. He graduated in 1999 and was awarded the Magna Cum Laude. While studying in Boston he started being interested in latin jazz and performed at many clubs.
Returning to Greece in 2000 he became a member of Grupo Candela and then of Manocuba and Cubana Bop. He has collaborated with many famous musicians such as Anthony Jackson, Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez, Dennis Chambers, Alex Acuna, Eric Marienthal and Birelli Lagrene. He has also toured in many countries as a member of Yiorgos Fakanas Group.
His debut album "Havana Vieja" was released in 2005.
