Yiorgos Fakanas Group (YFG) was created in the mid 90's from bassist Yiorgos Fakanas.

Since then, the group has appeared in numerous concerts in Greece, among them at the Megaron Athens Concert Hall in collaboration with symphonic and string orchetras, at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus with the national radio and television (ERT) network's Big Band and it has performed renowned pieces of other composers, along with big international orchestras. Moreover, with the National Orchestra of Greek Music, YFG has performed in concerts and theatrical shows as well it as has taken part in recordings of theatrical music, which Yiorgos Fakanas has composed.

The group works together with some of the most well known musicians of the international scene such as Dave Weckl, Mike Stern, Anthony Jackson, Frank Gambale, Dennis Chambers, Guthrie Govan, Birelli Lagrene, Alex Acuna, Mitch Forman, Tony Lakatos, Eric Marienthal, Greg Howe, Horacio El Negro, Scott Kinsey, Brett Garsed, Bob Franceschini and others. It has appeared in venues such as the Cotton Club in Tokio, the Art Center in Seoul and the 55BAR in New York.
