George Palamiotis
George Palamiotis was born in Athens. He started playing music at the age of 7 and later as a teenager he played the bass in various bands of the post-punk Athenian scene (such as the Metro Decay). After that he received formal music education first in Athens and then he studied at the Berklee College of Music, in Boston, on a scholarship. Back to Athens he collaborated with many artists and bands of the then groundbreaking movement of world fusion, mixing jazz with elements of the Greek musical tradition with the innovative trio named Iasis amongst others.
Then he went to London to have an inside view on the secrets of music production such as engineering, mixing and also the art of dub music. He has a great interest in the African rhythm heritage and with the actress and vocalist Fenia Papadodima, he formed a project named Eleusis blending African, British and Greek musicians.
He has collaborated with a variety of artists such as the master African musicians Brice Wassy, Anthony Cedras, Moussa Hema, the producers Count Dubulah and Neil Sparkes, members of the Athens jazz scene such as Costas Baltazanis, Nikos Kapilidis, David Lynch or choreographers like Apostolia Papadamaki and Kyriakos Kosmidis and some of the most notable artists/songwriters and composers of the Greek music industry.
George Palamiotis has produced the Loft Jazz Festival 2014 and the Elaionas Festival 2015.
