Antonis Maratos
Antonis Maratos was born in 1986 in Britain. He started learning music by taking flute lessons with Dimitris Fotopoulos and he continued in jazz with Dimitris Zafirelis. Also, he was taught composition and fugue by Haris Xanthoudakis and music theory by Minas Alexiadis and Panagiotis Adam. After his studies and for many years he experimnted with traditional stringed instrumennts (oud, shaz) along with playing the percussion.
Since 1994 he is a member of one of the most known groups in the Greek jazz scene, Mode Plagal. At Mode Plagal he was playing the percussion until 1996, when he started playing the bass.
He has collaborated with many greek bands and artists, such as: Orfeas Peridis, Michalis Siganidis, "Fanari tis Anatolis", George Pilali, "Musical Repertory". In the Greek jazz scene, he has recorded with Primavera en Salonico, Andreas Polyzogopoulos and Thomas Sliomis. Also he has taken part, as a musician, in many theatrical performances and more in detail with: the Municipal Regional Theater of Patras (Dipethe Patras) at the play "Eliza", the Argo Theater and the National Theater of Greece (at "Lysistrati").
