Vasilis Koutsonanos was born in Kozani in 1990. He received acoustic and electric bass classes in Thessaloniki by Lakis Tzimkas, music theory classes at the Municipality Conservatory of Kozani and jazz arrangement at Modern Conservatory of Thessaloniki. He started studying at the jazz department of Kunstuniversität Graz in 2012, and graduated with distinction in 2017. Among his teachers were Wayne Darling, Morten Ramsbol, Μichael Abene, Ed Neumeister and Ed Partyka.

He is a founding member of the quartet se4sons, with which he performs at concerts and festivals in Greece and abroad. The quartet's first album was released in 2018.

He has collaborated with Wayne Brasel, Dena DeRose, Michael Abene, Samuel Blaser, Joey Selers, Christos Rafailides, Petros Klampanis, George Kontrafouris and many more.

In 2020 he was accepted with scholarship at Manhattan School of Music. He teaches online at www.musiclass.gr.
