Ganiaris Socrates was born in Chios island. He studied music and drums at the Pindario Conservatory as well as at the Kostas Klavas' Conservatory in Athens. At the same time he studied Economics at the Deree College in Athens.

In the 80's he participated in pop and rock groupsand studied percussion in Greek music at the Conservatory of traditional music of Aristideis Moschos. In 1991 he moved to Los Angeles where he studied drums firts at the "Grove School oF Music" and then at the "Musicians Institute". From 2000 until 2008 he was taught classical percussion at the Municipal Conservatory of Moschato at the class of Kostas Vorissis. 

He has collaborated with many singers and musicians of the Greek folk scene (Manolis Lidakis, Pantelis Thalassinos, Orfeas Peridis, Avaton and more) along with many groups of the contemporary music scene in live prefrmance in Greece and abroad. He also has a prosperous academic career as a drums and percussion teacher in prestigious conservatories and music schools.
