"But beautiful ...", a rather weird title for a book that goes beyond the usual classifications. A novel? A collection of stories? A collection of biographies? An essay? Or rather a "poetic essay"? Jeff Dyer's masterpiece is entitled "A Book on Jazz". If one wanted to be more descriptive, he would say that Dyer wrote a book "On the soul of Jazz".
