The composer Gerasimos Lavranos was born in Corfu in 1935. He hails from a family with many musicians. At the age of 11 he was playing french horn at the local filarmonic society "Nikos Mantzaros".

Although he studied classical music he soon turned his interest into jazz. He collaborated with the orchestra of Giorgos Mouzakis. He composed his first song ("Hand in Hand") in 1958 and then many more songs that became hits sung by well-known Greek artists, as well as the soundracks of about 25 films. He toured in Greece and abroad.

He died in Athens in 2015.
