Vanessa Kourtesi comes from Athens and is based in Rotterdam and Athens. She has performed in many venues singing rebetika and traditional songs and has collaborated with many musicians of the genre, from the time she was still studying at the Law School of Athens.

She studied at the World Music department of the Codarts-University of the Arts in Rotterdam, specializing in Eastern Mediterranean song and music. There she had the opportunity to get in touch with many musical cultures and traditions and to interact with musicians from all over the world.

She has attended classes with Harjo Pasveer, Anna Linardou, Savina Giannatou, Harry Lambraki and many others.

She has participated as a member in many traditional and folk bands such as: "Merem", "The Circle Orchestra", "Serenade Ensemble", etc. and has performed at festivals in Greece and abroad.

She teaches vocals and gives lessons and seminars on the voice and rebetiko / traditional song in Greece, Belgium, the Netherlands and France.

In 2022 she released her first EP entitled "Spending time with Esther".
