Lefteris Christofis
The guitarist Lefteris Christofis was born in Athens in 1964. By the age of six he started playing the guitar and as a teenager, he formed several rock groups as the band leader. In 1992, he completed his studies at the Music Department of the Anglia Polytechnic/University (APU) in Cambridge and as a member of the APU Jazz Orchestra he took part in the recording of the APU's album "First Cuts".
Returning to Athens in 1996, he released "Mythoplasia", his first album as a leader. Since then he has performed with many internationally famous artists such as Chico Freeman, Paul Wertico, Jeff Berlin, Dominique Di Piazza and others. His album "Nous Icons", co-produced by Paul Wertico, was released by Blue Note Records in 2005.
Lefteris Christofis is the artistic director of the Music Center Athens (MCA) - Center of Musical Ensembles & Improvisation where he also teaches electric guitar and jazz fusion.
