Stelios Chatzikaleas
Trumpeter Stelios Chatzikaleas was born in Thessaloniki in 1985. He began studying classical piano and basic theory at an early age. In 2005 he started studying the trumpet at the Municipal Conservatory of N. Ionia in Volos. He graduated from the Jazz Trumpet Department of Utrecht’s Conservatorium in 2011 and the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles. He has also graduated the Pedagogic Department for Primary School at the University of Thessaly in Volos.
He has participated in many projects from mainstream and contemporary jazz music to classical and pop performing in many European countries.
He has participated in many recordings and has collaborated with almost all the musicians of the Greek jazz scene as well as with major pop artists. In addition, he has performed in many venues and festivals in Greece and abroad.
"Urban Stories", his debut album with his quartet was released in 2014 and it was succeeded by "The Froth on the Daydream" in 2017.
From 2016 to 2018, Stelios Chatzikaleas served as a trumpet teacher at the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music, at Birzeit University in Palestine.
