Axis was a progressive rock band formed in Paris in the late '60 by Demis Visvikis (keyboards), George Hadjiathanassiou (drums), Alekos Karakantas (guitar) and Dimitris Katakouzinos (bass).

Later on Katakouzinos and Karakantas quit the band and they were replaced by the bass player Alexandros Fantis and the drummer Chris Stassinopoulos.

With this line up the band's sound took a more experimental and fusion turn and recorded in Paris the album Axis in 1973.
