Vangelis Angelopoulos
Vangelis Angelopoulos was born in Kavala and from an early age he came into contact with music, studying classical piano and theory at the new conservatory of Drama. Then, in 1995, after a three-year term in the military music of Giannitsa as a permanent officer from which he resigned, he began to study jazz music and improvisation on the electric guitar at the modern conservatory of Thessaloniki, from where he graduated in 1999. The same year he moved to London to continue his music studies at Middlesex University of London (BA in jazz performance 2002).
Various titles followed: ORFF Music Therapy (EKPA), Classical Guitar Diploma (Agios Pavlos Municipal Conservatory of Thessaloniki), Ionian University (Jazz Performance Music Specialization), University of Macedonia (Music and Society, Master's Degree).
All these years, and especially after 2000, he works as an electric guitar teacher in conservatories and music schools, while at the same time, in collaboration with the University of Macedonia, he is the coordinator of community music ensembles.
As a session musician, he has collaborated with a multitude of artists and musical genres and styles, in Greece and abroad, participating in concerts and recording on records (Mind The Gab/ Antonis Sousamoglou, I Nychta me sympheri/ Michalis Preponis, C.M.P.T./ Jungle Stories 2022/ Music (k) 2023.
Since 2017, he has been creating his personal band Vangelis Angelopoulos Trio with Christos Yermenoglou on drums and Petros Damianidis on bass, composing exclusively original music.
His first album "Marrakech Mystery" was released in 2020.
