Charles Mingus (1922-1979) is one of the essential composers and bassists in the history of jazz and "Beneath the Underdog" is one of the greatest autobiographies ever written by a jazz musician.
He worked on that book for more than two decades. It was first published in 1971 by Alfred A. Knopf.
It was first published in greek (translated by Chrysa Tsalikidou) in 1981.
