Miranda Verouli

Singer/songwriter Miranda Verouli had her first piano and theory lessons when she was 8 years old. She received a degree in Physical Education from the University of Athens and then she studied graphic design in Paris and at Parsons School of Design in New York.

After receiving her BFA, she went to live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, working for designer Felipe Taborda. During her stay in Brazil she got interested in Brazilian culture and she had the opportunity to meet many Brazilian musicians.

In the late ‘90s she moved back to Athens and started singing professionally with "Banda Som Brasil", a band formed by Brazilian and Greek-Brazilian musicians. In 2001 she joined the Athenaeum School of Music, where she studied jazz improvisation and harmony and got her Diploma in jazz singing. She met many musicians, played with local bands in numerous events and venues in Athens and all over Greece, participated in recordings, mostly under the electronica genre and also started writing her own songs.

In 2003 she formed her own band, "Desafinados" and she "Miranda Verouli & Desafinados" in 2007. In 2009 she started performing with "Free Time Quartet" which released the album "O Grande Amor" in 2014. Her album "Onírico" was released in 2018. In 2018 she also received the honor of the "Knight of the Order of Rio Branco" by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil.
