Ioannis "Johnny" Tzimas was born in Athens in 1991. He plays double bass, electric bass and guitar. He took his first steps on the double bass and the electric bass in Athens with Nikos Mastrokostopoulos.

In 2016 he started studying double bass in the artistic jazz course at the University of Music, Theater and Media in Hanover with Robert Lucaciu, Michael Gutenkauf and Phil Donkin.

In addition to his interests in jazz, rock & pop, he has a personal focus on mixing contemporary jazz with elements of Balkan folklore.
