Sylvios Syrros
Sylvios Syrros was born in Athens. He is a graduate of CIM Jazz School in Paris. He learned how to play the saxophone with Xavier Cobo, Jean Claude Fonerbach and Guillome Naturel, arrangement in the class of Ivan Julien and harmony and improvisation by Claude Fonerbach. Also he received private lessons of breathing by Mr. Pichreau.
During the eight years of his residence in Paris, he was an assistant professor at the School of CIM and simultaneously he taught in the jazz school of Vernon for three years, in the jazz school of Limay for three years and in the jazz school of Bonnieres for three years. He played in the quintet of George Beckerich. He played and recorded with the Big Band of Bruno Bianchi. He also participated in several trios and quintets in the Parisian music scene. He played and composed jazz music in the One Man Show of Philippe Minela.
In Greece, he taught in the jazz department of the Municipal Conservatory of Piraeus, in RSI and in 1998 he founded the departement of Swinging Jazz in the Athenaeum Conservatory, at which he is the artistic director.
Upon his return from Paris, he participated very actively in the Greek jazz scene and in 1999 he founded the "Sylvios Trio" with Nikos Sidirokastritis his permanent partner in drums, while he toured for five years throughout Greece.
