Christina Syriopoulou
Christina Syriopoulou was born in Veroia, in 1981. She began by studying classical piano and completed her studies at the Dept of Musical Studies of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, obtaining a bachelor and a master of arts (MA) in Musicology. Then she continued with studying jazz expression at the Athenaum Conservatory and jazz singing with Philipp Weiss, Roza Poulimenou, Irini Konstantinidi and Sophia Michailidou.
Christina Syriopoulou has also a master's degree in jazz and improvisation from the Ionian University, at which she taught jazz singing the period 2017-2018, organizing at the same time workshops and festivals with Dimos Dimitriadis. At the Greek jazz scene, she has appeared with groups as Swing apres-midi, Hot Club de Grece and she has collaborated with George Kontrafouris, Yiannis Papadopoulos, Dimitris Papadopoulos, Sami Amiris, Manos Tavlakis, Michalis Katachanas, Frog String Quartet, Yiannis Loukatos, Bob Wijnen, Mark Whitfield, Duende Jazz Orchestra and many more.
Apart from the jazz musican scene, she has paricipated in many other artistic teams, such as the AlmaKalma and the dance music team Dirty Granny Tales as a pianist, performer and backing vocals taking part with the team in festivals in Europe and big music venues in Greece. Since 2007 she is a music teacher at the Ionios School.
