Andreas Polyzogopoulos
Αndreas Polyzogopoulos was born in 1981 and grew up in Samiko, a small village in the South-West of Greece. His journey in music began at the age of ten when he started guitar lessons. At sixteen he moved to Athens and continued in music by playing in rock and blues bands. Soon, he discovered jazz and he studied jazz guitar at Philippos Nakas Conservatory. It was in 2000 that he picked up the trumpet.
In 2002, he moved to the Netherlands and continued his studies at the Conservatorium Van Amsterdam where he studied with Markus Stockhausen and Angelo Verploegen. While studying in Amsterdam he played with various multi-ethnic groups. In 2006 he formed Poly Quartet. The band's debut "Perfumed Dreams" was released in 2008.
In 2010 he toured Europe as a member of the European Youth Jazz Orchestra. In 2011, as a member of Dimitris Kalantzis’ quintet, he participated in the recording of the cd "Mano’s". In 2013 he released "Heart of The Sun - The music of Pink Floyd", a cd with songs of his favourite rock band and all-time inspiration Pink Floyd. With this project he toured in Europe and also played in New York.
In 2015, he released the album "Anicca" at which the mediterranean sound is introduced in the band's music and in 2017 he released the "Polypala - One inch of Love", an album of ambient music.
Andreas Polyzogopoulos has colaborated with well known musicians of the jazz scene such as Jaques Morelembaum, Tore Brunborg, Michel Portal, Günter "Baby" Sommer, Markus Stockhausen, Tony Lakatos, Psarantonis, George Trantalidis, George Kontrafouris and Mode Plagal.
He has recorded over 60 albums and has performed in many festivals around the world (North Sea Jazz Festival, Odessa Jazz Festival, Shanghai World Festival, Berlin Jazz Festival, etc). Currently he lives and works in Brussels.
