John Papatriantafilou was born in Athens. He has a double bass diploma and has studied with Wayne Dockery, Ron Mc Clure, John Goldsby and Curtis Lundy.

Among others he has collaborated with Ralph Peterson Jr., Jimmy Cobb, Alex Foster, Ron Afiff, Soweto Kinch, Abraham Wilson, Miles Grifith, Tony Remy, Takis Paterelis, George Kontrafouris and many more.

His first personal alboum "Absence" was released in 2016.
