Vangelis Kotzabasis was born in Athens in 1983. He started receiving drums lessons at the age of 14 by Yiannis Stavropoulos and also studying guitar and music theory. He graduated the Ionian University studying with Dimos Dimitriadis, George Kontrafouris, Stefanos Andreadis and Alexandros Drakos Ktistakis.

Since 2007 he has been teaching, recording and performing at concerts mostly jazz, blues and pop.
