John Balikos was born in Athens in 1964 and got involved with music at the age of18. He started playing the keyboards and studied advanced music theory and composition at the Appolonion Conservatory. In 1984 he co-founded the group "Finding the name" and in 1989 he started studying jazz harmony.

Since 1991 he has been living on the island of Paros, where he has been working as a music teacher. His has been composing for large ensembles, symphony orchestra, piano sonatas, films and theatre.

In 2011 he formed the John Balikos Trio. The group released its first album in 2012 and started performing in Greece and abroad (Italy, France etc.).
