Christos Asonitis
Christos Asonitis was born in Athens in 1974. He started playing the drums at the age of 16. From 1994 to 1999 he studied at the Filippos Nakas Conservatory and under the influence of his educator Spyros Panagiotopoulos, he turned his interest into jazz.
After playing with various rock bands and popular Greek singers, he decided to dedicate his career to jazz and latin music.
He has performed with many greek jazz artists (Yorgos Krommydas, Yiorgos Psihoyios, Miranda Verouli, Lito Vogiatzoglou, etc.) and worked as a drum educator in conservatories, schools and workshops.
Together with Nikos Terzakis (guitar) and Yannis Papadopoulos (bass) he formed the project Jazz On T.A.P., with which they released their first album in 2012.
He also studied latin music in Havana and graduated the University of Music and Performing Arts of Munich with a master degree. While living in Munich he released his debut album as a bandleader “An Ode To The Light”.
