Vicky Almazidu

Vicky Almazidu was born in Bulgary by Greek immigrants and she studied at: the State Music Academy in Sofia, the University of Veliko Tarnovo "St. St. Cyril and Methodius" and The Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts in Plovdiv.

In 1987 she moved to Thessaloniki where she lives ever since and she teaches jazz singing and improvisation at Synodeio Conservatory.

She is one of the most prominent artists of the jazz-ethnic scene and during her career she has collaborated with well known artists og the world scene such as: Billy Cobham, Peter Erskine, Michel Lambert, Antoni Donchev, Oleg Chaly etc., as well as well known renowned aritsts of the Greek jazz scene: George Kontrafouris, Yiotis Kiourtsoglou, Lakis Tzimkas, Dimitri Vassilakis, Makis Stefanidis and more.

Since 2002 she collaborates closely with composer Milcho Leviev, with whom she released the album " Quiet Love", in 2004. This collaboration continued with the release of the album "Nina". 

Vicky Almazidu has appeared in many live performances in Greece and abroad.
