Strovili Quintet was formed in 2010 by the guitarist Yiannis Choulis. Its members are: Yiannis Kininis (saxophone), Yiannis Choulis (guitar), Dimitris Chiotis (cretan lyre), Xrysostomos Boukalis (bass), Yiannis Iliakis (drums) and Athina Chioti (vocals).

The band's members being old friends, decided to create something new based on their common music roots and interaction. As a result, it turned out a unique sound that is influenced by jazz, folk and ethnic melodies. Strovili's music expression uses greek sounds and rhythms combined with free improvisation.

The guitar, the saxophone, the cretan lyre, the double bass and the drums are the core instruments of their live performances, creating a unique flow that leads to either Dionysian or nostalgic soundscapes.
