Michael Kapilidis was born in 1973. His father is the drummer Nikos Kapilidis and the guitarist Theo Kapilidis is his uncle. He started drums lessons at the Modern Conservatory with Kostas Pagonidis at the age of 10 and by the age of 16 he was playing professionally.

He has collaborated with many popular Greek musicians (Nikos Papazoglou, Sokratis Malamas, Alkinoos Ioannidis, Eleonora Zouganeli and more), as well as with funk, soul and jazz groups and has performed at many concerts, festivals and recordings.

Along with Asterios Papastamatakis and Adedeji Adetayo he formed the trio Datfunk which released its debut album "Steppin' Up" in 2016.

Then he formed his personal project Extended Funk Family, a band infuenced by the '70s soul and funk.
