Sphinx

Sphinx were formed as a piano trio In the late 70's by Markos Alexiou (piano), George Filippidis (bass) and George Trantalidis (drums). Later with the addition of Lakis Zois (guitar), they became a quartet.

Their homonymous debut, released in 1979, marked a new era for greek modern jazz. It was succeeded by "Epta Diastaseis" in 1981, their second and last album.

The band gave numerous concerts around Greece and also played at the famous George Barakos’ Jazz Club in Athens.
