piano

Vangelis Katsoulis was born in Athens in 1949. He studied music in Greece and Germany and his debut as a composer was made in 1975. During the '70s, his music was influenced by the avant garde movement of that time. Later, he turned into minimalism applying elements of jazz and rock and exploiting the technological advancements.

He has an extensive discography of personal albums and he has worked with a large number of acclaimed artists such as Markus Stockhausen, Arild Andersen, Paolo Fresu, Bendik Hofseth and Paul Wertico.

His compositions have been performed in Greece and in many other countries, from Europe and America to Japan and Australia. In addition to symphonic, chamber, choral works and songs, Katsoulis has also composed numerous soundtracks and music for the theatre, as well as for the radio and television and has collaborated with a number of Greek and international choreographers.

Apart from composing, Katsoulis explored the recording production area and founded the independent record company Utopia as well as a professional recording studio, which was destroyed by fire in July 2022..

In recent years, Vangelis Katsoulis has voluntarily restricted many of his activities, mainly focusing on music composition.
