Sotos Koutsounanos was born in Kozani. He discovered his interest in music and especially in drums at the age of four. Pretty soon he started piano lessons at the Sychrono Conservatory in Kozani and then he moved on to learning classical percussion and clarinet at the Municipal Conservatory of his home town.

As a teenager he turned into playing the drums with various groups of different styles such as rock, fusion and jazz. At the same time he continued learning music by taking lessons with Kostas Anastadiadis, Christos Yermenoglou and Nikos Vargiamidis.

At the age of nineteen he obtained the Bachelor of Music Jazz & Pop from the Utrechts Conservatorium in Holland. Then he moved for a while in New York and attended music classes with drummers as Μarvin Bugalu Smith, ο Ludvic Afonso, ο Obed Calver, Mark Juliana κ.ά.

He has collaborated with great musicians of the Greek and european jazz scene such as Christos Rafailides, Milcho Leviev, Sakis Zachariades, Yiannis Oikonomidis, Yiotis Kiourtsoglou and many others.
His first album "Acceleration" was released in 2021.
