Thanasis Gourounas started playing the bass at the age of 15. He graduated from the Music Praxis School with honours in advanced level music performance on bass guitar and popular music theory - harmony.

He was a founding member of the band Iristho En Parodo which released the album "Istrilasia" in 2010. He is also a founding member of the Bump Trio. The band's self-titled debut album was released in 2016.

He has collaborated with musicians such as: Doug Aldrich, Nane Fruhstuckl, and Dimitris Korontzis.

He has been teaching for many years at the Aharnon Modern Conservatory, the Nea Smirni National Consvatory, etc.
