Antonis Priftis
Priftis Antonis was born in Athens. At the age of 8 he began playing the tzouras and two years later he started studying classical guitar. He continued his studies at the Music School of Pallini. At the age of 18 he started playing with various bands and continued the guitar lessons with Yiotis Samaras and Takis Paterelis at Philipos Nakas Conservatory.
In 2005 he became a member of the group TAKIM. At the same time he formed the BOB Quartet and strted participating in recordings.
In 2007, he was accepted at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York. There he took part in jam sessions and played with Jean Michel Pilc, Sean Jones, Roy Hargrove, Joel Frahm and others.
He returned to Greece in 2011 and he started playing with many bands (Para bebop Activity Trio, Minor Kiss) and with the Antonis Priftis Gypsy Quartet, with which he has performed in various festivals around the country. Among the artists he has collaborated, are James Casey, Sami Amiris, George Kontrafouris, Pantelis Benetatos and many more.
Since 2014 he teaches the electric guitar at various conservatories and music schools. In 2019 he released the jazz hip hop album "Egemonia" with Rudy Roots.
