Filippos Pappas started piano lessons with Yiannis Terezakis and at the age of 22 he continued with the saxophone under Manthos Halkias at Kostas Klavvas conservatory. In 1994 he travelled to the USA in order to study at the New School in New York. In 2006 he graduated the Spyros Mazis conservatory with a classical saxophone diploma.

He became the first tenor saxophone of the ERT orchestra. He is a founding member of Brothers From Another Mother, a band formed by drummer Spyros Panagiotopoulos. The band's debut album, entitled "Happy Hour" was released in 2021, including some of Philippos Pappas' compositions.
