Orestis Petrakis attented classical piano lessons by Ala Chalapsi for 8 years and he also studied jazz piano and theory with Ala Halapsi.

Then he moved to Holland, where he continued his studies at the Utrecht and Amsterdam conservatories. He also attended seminars and lessons with great jazz masters. Joined by drummer Nikos Thessalonikefs and Brazilian bassist Pedro Ivo Fereira, he formed the Canvas Trio in Holland. The trio recorded two albums and performed at many European countries. In 2016 the band received an award at the Keep an Eye International Jazz Competition.

Upon his return to Greece, Orestis Petrakis started to perform in various jazz groups and at the theatre.
