Christos Kechris
Christos Kechris studied electric bass, modern music theory, ear training, music technology and piano at Art Music School with Yiorgos Fakanas, S. Elgazar, Th. Zervas and Th. Tsourelis. At the age of 22 he moved to California and studied at the Los Angeles Music Academy. He graduated, rated first at the best ever class of the Academy.
He recorded as a soloist accompanied by his fellow students Charles Mingus' "Vassar Lean", arranged for six electric basses by Steve Swallow. He also studied music business at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Great Britain, where he was awarded a Music Pop Arts B.A. Then he returned to Los Angeles and teached at L.A.M.A.
He has performed and recorded jazz, soul, funk, gospel, brazilian & cuban collaborating with artists such as Kallistratos Drakopoulos, Mike Miller, Tal Wilkenfeld, M. Shapiro, E. Spencer Lewis, Continuum, Dorian Holley and Mike Hughes.
In 2007 he relocated in Greece, where he teaches and performs either as a member of Novatek, Elida & the small time crooks, Dessafinado and Family Affair, or as a session musician with Takis Barberis, Dimitris Pantelias and other artists.
