Nikolas Skordas
Saxophonist Nikolas Skordas was born and raised in Athens but lives in Thessaloniki since 2000. He studied jazz soprano saxophone at the Athenaum Maria Callas Conservatory (2002-2012) and completed his studies in classical music at the Hellenic Conservatory of Music and Arts, in Athens. Moreover, he attended classes of contemporary jazz composition at Synodeio Conservatory of Thessaloniki.
He has participated in many workshops and seminars on improvisation with acclaimed musicians (Markus Stockhausen, Gianni Lenoci, Gianni Mimmo, George Haslam, etc.) and also he attended private classes on jazz saxophone with Antoine Roney, Mark Mommaas, David Angol, Albert Beger, Nat Birchall, Bobby Stern, David Valdez and Lawrence Clark. He has also attended classes of backpipe, traditional flute and byzantine music.
Nikolas Skordas was a radio producer at the Entropia Radio having his own radio show "Paths" dedicated to improvisation.
Since 2012 he is involved in the free jazz improvisational scene of Greece and has taken part in various important festivals, live events and collaboration with musicians from the international scene.
