Aggeliki Toubanaki
Aggeliki Toubanaki has long studies in music and scientific research. She is a vocalist and gratuaded the University of Athens with a PhD on Molecular Biology, but devoted herself to music. She has attended seminars and classes with Bobby McFerrin, Bob Stoloff, JD Walter and others, classes on jazz harmony, improvisation and the history of jazz at the Athenaeum Maria Callas Conservatory and seminars on rhythmology, Indian singing, Persian singing, Flamenco singing etc.
She uses the human voice as a musical instrument, in order to express herself, communicate, improvise, experiment with it, considering it the most complex instrument and the richest one on expressive nuances. She teaches vocal technique and improvisation and organizes and leads vocal circles, blending jazz, world music and improvisation.
In 2008 she created the group Aggeliki Toubanaki & the Buzz Bastardz and their homonymous album was released in 2015.
