Thomopoulos George was born into a family of musicians in Athens in 1981. He started playing the piano at the age of 6 and soon he took interest into trumpet. From 1999 until 2002 he was the first trumpeter in the Youth Orchestra of the Municipality of Athens under the conductor Spyros Alexandratos.

In 2008 he obtained a degree in classic trumpet from the Municipal Conservatory of Agia Paraskevi, with Socratis Anthis as his teacher, as well as a degree in harmony, counterpoint and orchestration having attended music lessons with Alexandros Stoupakis. At the same year he became a member of the Big Band of the Municipality of Chalandri, where he works until today. He has taken part in many concerts and in theatrical music shows collaborating with well known Greek composers (S. Kassaras, T. Karakatsanis, G. Thomopoulos, S. Kypraios, K. Melampsis). 

He turned to jazz taking improvisation and harmony lessons with Sylvios Syrros at the Athenaum Conservatory. Since then he participates very actively in the Greek jazz scene through collaborations, recordings and live appearances in festivals and venues.

He is a a founding member of the Open Maze Quintet and a member of the Jeepers Creepers Band.
