Michael Messios
Michael Messios was born in Limassol in 1971. He started beng involved with music at a very young age. In 1992 he left Cyprus in order to study at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, with a scholarship after serving his military service in the National Guard Band. In Berklee he studied composition and orchestration. Among his teachers were Charlie Banacos, Jerry Bergonzi and Oscar Stagniaro.
In 1998 he returned to Cyprus and started collaborating with artists such as Gilad Atzmon, Tony Lakatos and Chris Byars.
He performs with local bands and appears at festivals in Cyprus and abroad. He also appears in TV programs as bassist and conductor.
He is the leader of the Michael Messios Symmetry Band that performs exclusively his own compositions.
