Babis Markoulis was born in Athens and began playing lute and guitar at the age of 7. He started performing, composing and recording music from the age 12, and at the age 17 he switched to the electric bass guitar.

He has performed live and recorded in studio for major artists from folkloric to jazz fusion and to other multi genre compositions and arrangements.

He has released some personal digital singles and one EP.
