Nikos Chatzitsakos
Nikos Chatzitsakos was born in Athens. He has been engaged with music from an early age. After graduating from the "Music School of Ilion", he entered the "National & Kapodistrian University of Athens" where he studied Musicology. In 2016, after auditioning for Berklee College of Music, he received a full-tuition scholarship. He received his bachelor's degree in performance and jazz composition. Among others he studied with Linda May Oh, John Lockwood, Terence Blanchard, Ralph Peterson Jr. and Billy Kilson.
He has performed alongside distinguished musicians such as Ralph Peterson Jr., Frank Lacy, George Kontrafouris, Charis Ioannou and Takis Paterelis. Some of the venues and festivals he performed are: Dizzy's Club Coca Cola at Lincoln Center, DC Jazz Festival, Scullers Jazz Club, The Berklee Performance Center (BPC), etc. In 2018 he recorded with Ralph Peterson’s GenNext Big Band featuring Frank Lacy the album entitled "Listen Up".
He is also the leader of the Nikos Chatzitsakos Tiny Big Band & Quartet for which he arranges and composes music.
