Takis Anagnostopoulos
Takis Anagnostopoulos was born and raised up in Peristeri. He first started playing the guitar when he was 14 years old and during the second half of the 70s participated as a guitarist in various blues-rock and fusion bands. In 1978 he left for Sweden where, in addition to his studies in archeology, he had the opportunity to meet and play with musicians from all over the world and to deepen in different jazz schools but also in different musical genres. The top collaboration was the summer of 1982 with the great Austrian violinist Rudi Berger and the guitarist Makis Markantonatos.
In 1985 he presented in Uppsala university a pioneering for the time treatise on the subject of ancient Greek music. After the end of his studies he returned to Greece and started playing at various venues.
In the 80's obviously influenced by the guitarists John McLaughlin, Egberto Gismonti, Paco, Django Reinhardt and Joe Pass turned more to the techniques and the sound of the acoustic and classical guitar. In the following years as a member of the Theatrical team Roda he composed and performed music for the theatrical works Gilgamesh, Ramayana and Tempest.
In the second half of the 90’s he formed with the guitarist Costas Mitropoulos the acoustic band Palmonia Sol and at the same time the fusion group Graffity quintet with which they recorded original material. Later on he formed and performed with the jazz mainstream band Tempus Fugit, the gypsy jazz quartet Manouche sumitt, the group Latin Vibes, the jazz-funk trio Three for the road, the Playdate quintet, etc. His great love for the blues turned him to forming the 4Blues band, whose current formation is besides himself, Panagiotis Bourazanis, Nikos Kapilidis and Alexis Perdikis.
In 2015 he started to perform with his own jazz-funk oriented quartet (Panagiotis Bourazanis, Nikos Kapilidis - Billy Pod and Markos Chaidemenos). He has been teaching guitar since the 80's, having taught in several conservatories not only guitar but also related topics such as e.g. History of of jazz guitar at the Conservatory Musical Praxis while since 1999 he is a full time teacher of electric guitar and history of blues and jazz at the Municipal Conservatory of Peristeri.
He graduated from the modern departement of Filippos Nakas conservatory and attended seminars with Mike Stern, Pat Martino, Bireli Lagrene and others.
He had been teaching since the '80s.
He died on 18/9/2025.
