Stathis Lontos began his studies at the Philippos Nakas Conservatory. In 2000, he began studying with a scholarship at Berklee College of Music, from where he graduated in 2004. Among his teachers were Oscar Stagnaro, Fernando Huergo, Kenwood Dennard and Jamey Haddad.

Since returning to Greece in 2007, he has collaborated with artists such as Dionysis Tsaknis, Vangelis Germanos, Eleonora Zouganeli, etc. He has also participated in various jazz groups such as Jazz Utopia, Giannis Kassetas' Funk Wizards and Pyros Ether.

He teaches electric bass at various music schools.
