Lakis Zois
Lakis Zois was born in Piraeus. As a child he sang in choirs and played various musical instruments like the drums, guitar and bass.
Between 1969 and 1974 he became a member of many groups and collaborated with many members of notable bands of the time like the Playboys, Charms, Idols, Socrates, Sounds, etc. His first jazz rock band was Lakis Zois Group, including George Filippidis, George Gavalas, Chris Stassinopoulos and Paul Alexiou. During that period he also played with George Trantalidis, Johnny Labizzi and Demis Visvikis.
In 1975 he formed the Jazz group "Lakis Zois Trio" with George Filippidis and George Trantalidis and played at the historic Baracos Jazz Club for several years.
Among the artists he has played with are Bela Lakatos, Tony Lakatos, Harry Sokal, Laszlo Gardony and Nick Gravenites.
In 1979 he studied with Mihalis Vourtsis and Julien Fulk at the Conservatoire of Umip music school in France.
In 1980 he returned to Greece and became the fourth member of the band Sphinx. Since 1983 he works at his personal studio where he composes, orchestrates and records his music. His first personal album "Esoteric" was released in 1994.
