Yiorgos Zikoyiannis
Bassist Yiorgos Zikoyiannis studied music theory with Kostas Klavvas (1977-1980) and jazz arranging at Berklee College of Music (1980-1983).
He became a member of the famous Greek rock group Socrates for two years and recorded with them the album "Waiting for something". In 1981 he became the first Greek musician who played a fretless electric bass in the recording of Vasilis Papakonstanou's album "Fovamai".
He has performed at many concerts, recordings and tours in Greece and abroad and has collaborated with artists such as Dionisis Tsaknis, Dionisis Savvopoulos and Katismihas Brothers.
He teaches bass, jazz harmony and improvisation and is the author of five educational music books. His debut album as a leader entitled "Portrait" was released in 2007.
