Savina Yannatou
Savina Yannatou was born in Athens. She started singing lessons at the workshop of Spyros Sakkas, Art Act Area. Having a scholarship she continued studying performance and communiation skills at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, in London.
Her professional career started in 1979 with the radio show "Lilipoupoli", of the third program of the Greek National Radio. Since then she has collaborated with many Greek composers. She was also a member of the Early Music Workshop for many years.
Savina Yannatou is involved with free improvisation since 1992. From 1994 she collaborates with the group Primavera en Salonico which music is characterised by Mediterannean sounds. With the group she has interpreted, with that unique voice of hers, their songs worldwide as they have given many concerts around the world. She has also composed music for the National Theater, the DIPETHE of Larissa (Municipal, Regional Theater of Thessaly), the National Theater of North Greece (NTNG) as well as music for documentaries, pantomime and video art.
Her discography is very rich as she has collaborated at almost thirty albums that contain songs from a variety of genres and styles: contemporary Greek composers, traditional songs, free imporivisational songs as well as her own compositions.
